Nissan Leaf: Propaganda

We in American have all fallen victim to various forms of propaganda. The Japanese motor company Nissan hits it out of the park with this clip.

Nissan uses the propaganda element of “Card Staking” in the video to show the benefits that electricity has over gasoline powered devices.  It substitutes things that are traditional powered by electricity to gasoline powered devices. We all know that electric has benefits over gasoline in traditional electronic  appliances, but Nissan pushes the envelope by saying “What if everything ran on gas.” creating a level of distress with in the people using gasoline.

Nissan doesn’t just stop with stacking the cards against gasoline. It attempts of appeal to “Plain Folk” and how they carry out their every day life. Notice the video follows a guy that can be describe as an average Joe going about his daily routine and how the effects of gasoline powered everything will affect his daily life, and our if we were to live a world dominated by gasoline powered objects. Take notice of the printer need a mechanic and computer required a refueling.

Nissan closing statement of the video represents that “Bandwagon” element of propaganda. ” Innovation for all” suggesting that everyone would like to drive a  Nissan Leaf and that it will provide the transportation needs of all citizens.
